Torqeedo warrants that its products are free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use, proper installation, and routine maintenance for a period of 24 months from the date of delivery. Warranty claims must be submitted within 6 months of discovering the issue.
The Torqeedo Travel & Battery ship in two separate boxes via UPS Ground or FedEx Ground and is delivered either directly to the customer's home or to the nearest ePropulsion dealer for convenient pickup. If the customer is traveling, we can also coordinate delivery of the engine and catamaran to their vacation destination or to a dealer along their route.
The engine & battery should be stored in a dry & shaded environment and in moderate temperatures ideally between 5°-15°C / 41°F - 59°F. During storage we recommend that the battery maintain a minimum charge of 60% or more, and be charged every 3 months.
Torqeedo Travel electric outboards feature built-in thermal protection that automatically reduces power output if internal temperatures rise too high. This system ensures the motor stays within safe operating ranges to prevent damage.
For the battery component, Torqeedo specifies an operating temperature range between -20°C and +60°C (-4°F to 140°F). Charging the battery is recommended only when ambient temperatures are between 0°C and 45°C (32°F to 113°F) .
Yes, the Travel engine is built with high-quality corrosive resistant materials and designed for extensive use in both fresh & saltwater.
No, Torqeedo batteries do not float—this feature is unique to ePropulsion Spirit batteries. However, the Torqeedo motor offers 360° rotation, making it easy to swap the battery while seated at the rear of the boat. With no cables required, installation is quick and hassle-free.
The Torqeedo Travel motor weighs 25.5 lbs (11.6 kg). The 1080Wh battery adds 19 lbs (8.6 kg), and the 1425Wh battery adds 21.2 lbs (9.6 kg), bringing the total engine & battery weight to approximately 41.5 to 46.7 lbs, depending on the battery used.
The ePropulsion eLite electric outboard motor offers several charging options, each with different charge times:
Standard AC 180 Charger (110/220V):
Charging takes approximately 6 hours for the 1080Wh Essential battery and 8 hours for the 1425Wh Range battery using the standard household 180W charger included with the motor.
Solar Charging (Optional Accessory):
Charging time varies based on the wattage of the solar panel and available sunlight. This option is ideal for off-grid use with compatible solar charging equipment.
Torqeedo Travel Essential (based on tests on a 3.8m inflatable dinghy):
- Slow Speed: 3.4 mph, 13.4 mi range, 3:56 hours
- Half Throttle: 4.3 mph, 8.6 mi range, 1:58 hours
- Full Throttle: 5.2 mph, 5.2 mi range, 0:59 hours
Torqeedo Travel Range Package (based on tests on a 3.8m inflatable dinghy):
- Slow Speed: 3.5 mph, 18 mi range
- Half Throttle: 4.7 mph, 12.3 mi range
- Full Throttle: 5.3 mph, 6.9 mi range
The Torqeedo Travel electric outboard motor is roughly equivalent to a 3 horsepower (HP) gasoline outboard engine in terms of thrust and performance.
While electric motors and gas engines differ in how they deliver power (electric motors provide instant torque and smoother power curves), the Travels 1,100W output provides comparable thrust to a traditional 3 HP gas motor, especially for small boats, dinghies, kayaks, or as a lightweight tender motor.
It's best suited for calm water conditions and light loads, where efficiency and quiet operation are key.
